How it's organised

Write without the clutter

Rich text with no visible syntax, and your note saves itself.

  • Bold, italic, headings, lists, quotes and links, with no markup in sight.
  • Markdown shortcuts as you type: #, -, **bold**, >. Undo restores what you typed.
  • Link notes together with [[Title]] and see backlinks.
  • Add images inside your notes.
  • Checkbox blocks in any text note.

Organise your way

Structure when you want it, none when you don't.

  • Flat, optional folders, each with a colour dot if you like.
  • Inline #tags, nested with /.
  • Smart lists: No folder, Untagged, Today and Pinned.
  • Pin a note to keep it on top.
  • Archive what you want out of the way.

Checklists that stay in view

  • Start a checklist with a long-press on +, or convert any note.
  • Checked items can sink to the bottom as you go.
  • Todos gathers every checklist with open items, so nothing gets buried.
  • Long-press an item to drag it, and indent one level for sub-items.

Made for every screen

Moonleaf adds a pane as the screen gets wider: one on phones, a list beside the editor on foldables and small tablets, and a sidebar, list and editor on tablets and Chromebooks.

Rotating or unfolding keeps your note open.

Your notes stay yours

  • Notes stay on your phone. No account needed.
  • Optional Google Drive backup, saved as markdown files (and their images) in a visible Moonleaf folder. Moonleaf can only see files it created.
  • Export everything as a .zip of markdown files, any time.
  • App lock with your fingerprint or your phone's screen lock.
